BonjourCitoyen — Preparing for the Civic Exam
Context
BonjourCitoyen is an EdTech platform that helps users prepare for official civic exams in France: multi-year residency permit, 10-year resident card, and naturalization. Backend Django, frontend Next.js, built for the agency UWEZO.
My role
I primarily worked on the frontend, implementing the **quiz engine**—the core feature of the product—and everything around it: progress tracking, corrections, and result displays. I also handled **Docker containerization** and the **CI/CD pipeline**, all the way to production deployment.
Challenges I faced
I encountered several issues while developing the quiz engine, particularly with synchronizing user responses and API feedback. Relying on **HTTP status codes** instead of generic responses greatly improved reliability and helped me quickly identify the source of problems.
Tech stack
- **Backend:** Django
- **Frontend:** Next.js
- **Containerization:** Docker
- **CI/CD:** deployment pipeline up to production
Outcome
A civic exam preparation platform with a reliable quiz engine, used by individuals preparing for real administrative procedures—a context where reliability is especially critical.
